A taxi driver discovered at least ten boxes of personal information belonging to staff and patients outside the Moran Health Care Group building in Sydney's C-B-D on Sunday. The taxi driver says the documents included staff banking details and wills from nursing homes in Kalgoorlie, Murwillumbah and Mandurah. The Privacy Commissioner, Karen Curtis, says the situation is concerning. "Under the Privacy Act, health businesses like many businesses have obligations to keep information secure," she said. "When they no longer need it they actually have to take reasonable steps to make sure it's destroyed appropriately, so we've opened an investigation into the incident."
