#Breaking News feed A digital file containing the names and Social Security numbers of 8,600 people was mistakenly sent to 49 Johnson County employees on July 1. The details were released today.

The information was maintained in Johnson County’s payroll database. The file was inadvertently attached to an e-mail sent to the 49 employees. County officials said the error was discovered in less than an hour and all recipients were asked to delete the attachment.

An investigation of the incident concluded there was very minimal risk of disclosure or misuse of the information.

Deputy County Manager Hannes Zacharias said officials met with all 49 recipients to confirm that no information was reproduced.
